Hybrid Visions: the Language of Documentary Practices Today

Thursday at CAMERA | 4 December 2025, 6.30pm

On Thursday, December 4, at 6:30pm, the meeting Hybrid Visions: The Language of Documentary Practices Today will take place, during which artists Oliver Frank Chanarin and Lorenzo Vitturi will talk with Giangavino Pazzola about their respective artistic practices and the need to develop new forms of representing reality.

In an era marked by post-truth, where individual emotions and beliefs influence public opinion more than objective facts, what tools are available to contemporary photography to describe the world? How can artists objectively describe the phenomena that surround us? Can acts of fiction reveal power dynamics, challenging the ethics of documentary photography?

Starting from the chronicle of their most recent works, Chanarin and Vitturi will share with the audience the story of their own working methods in image-making today, analyzing the strategies that expand the formal and conceptual possibilities of the documentary genre.

With the participation of:
Oliver Frank Chanarin, Photographer
François Hébel, Artistic Director of CAMERA
Giangavino Pazzola, Head of Research Projects
Lorenzo Vitturi, Photographer
