Magnum America. Anatomy of a crisis and perspectives for the future
Thursday at CAMERA | Special Wednesday | 4 March 2026, 6.30pm
On Wednesday, March 4, at 6.30pm, CAMERA hosts Peter van Agtmael, photographer and member of Magnum Photos since 2008, to discuss his work and present his book Magnum America (Thames and Hudson, 2024), a fundamental contribution to the documentation of contemporary America.
The publication explores the immense Magnum archive to trace a visual narrative that connects the past and present of the United States of America, questioning the country’s future. Through the images of the agency’s photographers, the work lays bare the geopolitical activism and military failures of the United States, recounting its cultural influence and aesthetic projected onto the world.
The book also inspired the exhibition Magnum America. The United States, which can be visited at Forte di Bard until March 8, 2026.
With the participation of
Peter van Agtmael, photographer
Francois Hébel, artistic director of CAMERA
