Letti in CAMERA presents “A War Play”
Letti in CAMERA | Tuesday 17 March 2026, 6.30 pm
On Tuesday, March 17, at 6.30pm, as part of the Letti in CAMERA, A War Play will be presented, a project by Giulio Squillacciotti that explores the ways in which war is represented and the mechanisms of its staging.
The artist reinterprets a stereoscopic image by the painter Giuseppe Augusto Levis (1879–1926), known for creating tableaux vivants dedicated to World War I involving Piedmontese farmers hired for the occasion. Starting from this historical source, Squillacciotti shapes a theatrical piece where the camera follows four characters engaged in reenacting an image of war. By working on the re-temporalization of the work in a contemporary context, the artist introduces new levels of interpretation and further layers to the representation.
The volume contains contributions from the curators, ARTECO and CRIPTA747, and researchers Vittoria Martini and Kamil Dalkir.
