Screening of “I am Martin Parr”

Thursdays at CAMERA | 16 April 2026, ore 6.30pm

On Thursday, April 16, at 6.30pm, a few months after the passing of Martin Parr (Epsom, May 23, 1952 – Bristol, December 6, 2025), CAMERA pays tribute to the English photographer with the screening of the documentary I am Martin Parr, a journey into the eyes of one of the most influential and provocative photographers of our time.

Directed by Lee Shulman, the documentary film travels across England, touching on the iconic places and key moments that marked Parr’s career. The director follows him on his wanderings – starting from his native Brighton – where he meets and photographs ordinary people caught in everyday gestures, observed with delicacy and sympathy. His unique style, characterized by irony and a bold use of color, emerges from this engaging road movie, enriched by the presence of artists such as Grayson Perry and musician Mark Bedford, who help to reveal the unconventional genius behind some of the most iconic images of the last century. The film is not only a biographical portrait, but also a reflection on the power of art to provoke, question, and inspire.

A Q&A with artistic director François Hébel will follow.
