Teach yourself exile
Workshop with Adam Broomberg | 25 and 26 May 2019
CAMERA presents the workshop with Adam Broomberg, artist of the duo Broomberg & Chanarin.
The exile will be the theme of the workshop.
Each participant is asked to present, before the beginning of the workshop, a brief history, about a paragraph, that tells of an exile, any kind of exile, removal, isolation, remoteness, detachment. Also the description of a moment or an event that concerns the theme of the exile.
The activity during the workshop will be conducted starting from the stories presented by the participants. Works already carried out on this topic are more than welcome and will be discussed during the workshop.
Adam Broomberg (born 1970, Johannesburg, South Africa) is an artist living and working between London and Berlin. He is professor of photography at the Hochschule für bildende Künste (HFBK) in Hamburg, Germany and teach on the MA Photography & Society programme at The Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Hague. His life-long collaboration with photographer Oliver Chanarin resulted in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world. Major awards include the ICP Infinity Award (2014) for Holy Bible, and the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize (2013) for War Primer 2.
