The artists who will participate in the sixth year of FUTURES were chosen by Walter Guadagnini, director of CAMERA, and Giangavino Pazzola, curator and coordinator of the programme.
“2022 proved to be a very important year for CAMERA, because in November it was our turn to curate the annual FUTURESnetworkevent,” comments Giangavino Pazzola. In this way, we were able to express our point of view on the international stage of contemporary photography, hosting a programme that featured some of the main protagonists and themes running through today’s artistic panorama. Welcoming more than 150 artists, curators and directors from almost 20 European organisations, moreover, was a concrete way of continuing to think about the idea of building an open, multicultural, inclusive community that expands year by year and that comes together around the exchange of ideas on the evolution of the photographic medium in the contemporary world.”
“Also in 2023, FUTURES will continue as a constant and characterising feature of CAMERA’s identity,” continues Walter Guadagnini, “and in this sense we are thinking about a dense programme that will continue to enhance the research of young artists. Equally important are the relationships that the project has triggered with various cultural actors in Italy and abroad, from independent spaces to entrepreneurial realities, through to major collaboration projects with both historical and very young cultural institutions such as FAF – Fondazione Alinari Fotografia in Florence and E.Art.H – Eataly Art House in Verona, as well as with all the museums and festivals that are part of the platform. In this same group, we are therefore delighted to welcome those selected for this annual edition, to whom CAMERA will provide all the support deriving from its many years of experience.”
