Beyond the gaze: Italy by Pierre Andrian
Thursday at CAMERA | 15 May 2025, 6.30pm

On Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 pm, CAMERA will host French writer Pierre Adrian for the presentation of the Italian edition of his book, Hotel Roma, at the Salone del Libro di Torino.
The book, which takes its title from the place where Cesare Pavese took his own life on August 27, 1950, the Hotel Roma in Turin, traces between the pages the writer’s last summer, also giving us a snapshot of postwar Italy. But Pierre Adrian’s Italy is also that of Pasolini, photographed by Cartier-Bresson in 1959, of the cities traversed with a sensitive gaze and of the stories that weave between past and present. An opportunity to explore the link between writing and image, between travel and identity, through the narrative of an author who – like Henri Cartier-Bresson – made Italy a central element of his research.
With the participation of
Pierre Adrian, writer
Simone Caltabellota, editorial director of Edizioni Atlantide
Geoffrey Félix, director of Alliance Française of Turin
Walter Guadagnini, artistic director of CAMERA
