Broomberg & Chanarin is a duo of Anglo-South African artists who, starting from photography as a privileged medium, realizes hybrid projects experimenting different linguistic and media approaches. Facing the ambiguity, the partiality or the ambivalence of universal themes such as politics, religion, war and history through images – and therefore also analyzing their communicative potential – Broomberg & Chanarin draw on the repertoire and practices of war photography and archival, as well as the forensic and investigative discipline. If the technological revolution has made the idea of truth more fragile, through the story of their research, Adam Broomberg in dialogue with Walter Guadagnini will advance a reflection not so much on the effects of the image – its wound in the community – but on the modalities and the instruments with which it, as sharp as a blade, is now generated.
