FUORI fuoco! The Italian Revolutionary Homosexual United Front in photographs
Talk | Monday 26 October 2026, 6.30pm
On Monday 26 October at 6.30 pm, CAMERA will host the launch of the book FUORI fuoco! Events, Places, People. The Italian Revolutionary Homosexual United Front from 1971 to 1982, edited by Emanuele Carlenzi, published by Edizioni ETS with the support of Strategia Fotografia 2025, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
The book stems from the first survey of the Photographic Archive of the FUORI! Foundation in Turin and offers a visual journey dedicated to the history of FUORI! – the Italian Revolutionary Homosexual United Front, the first homosexual liberation movement in Italy. Through a selection of photographic prints taken between 1971 and 1982, the volume reconstructs the demonstrations, places and people that marked a decisive period in the struggle for visibility for LGBTQIA+ communities in the country.
The images document conferences, protests, social gatherings, private spaces and public events, illustrating how photography has helped shape the movement’s political and emotional memory. To mark the launch, a selection of prints from the archive will be exhibited in a pop-up show, offering the public the chance to view rarely seen photographic material up close.
