Garesio Wine Prize 2026

Awards Ceremony | 2 June 2026, 6.30pm

CAMERA and Garesio Winery are pleased to announce the winner of the Garesio Wine Prize for Documentary Photography, an award dedicated to supporting and promoting young talents in contemporary photography, as part of the EXPOSED Torino Photo Festival.

The jury, composed of Giovanna Garesio, founder of Garesio Vini e Resort; Walter Guadagnini, artistic director of EXPOSED Torino Photo Festival; and François Hébel, artistic director of CAMERA Torino, has selected Daniel Chatard, a Franco-German documentary photographer and visual researcher (b. 1996).

“The jury awards the prize to Daniel Chatard for his sensitivity in interpreting the theme of the landscape and its transformations, as well as for his ability to convey, through authentic, intense, and evocative images, the economic, social, and political dynamics that shape it. Despite his young age, his work demonstrates expressive maturity, confirmed by his numerous collaborations with renowned entities in the international photography scene: from publications such as Stern, Der Spiegel, and The Washington Post to artistic events like the Chobi Mela Festival in Bangladesh, the Hamburg Phototriennale, and Aperture Gallery in New York. Each of his photographs reveals an ability to analyze context, attention to detail, compositional balance, and a personal vision capable of guiding a recognizable visual narrative. His photographic work stands out for its originality, thematic coherence, and focus on small local communities, as well as its strong emotional impact—qualities that make him a promising voice in the contemporary photography scene. This recognition aims to highlight not only the talent already demonstrated, but also the creative and human potential of an artist destined to grow and give rise to many other significant experiences.”

Chatard will receive a cash prize and take part in a residency at the Garesio winery in Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Barolo Langhe, to create a photography project that will be presented during the 2027 edition of EXPOSED.

The award ceremony will take place in the Sala Gymnasium on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:30 pm, during an event open to the public, followed by a reception featuring products from the Garesio Winery.
