On Thursday, 21 January at 6.30 pm, CAMERA hosts a conversation with Sabrina Pisu, journalist and co-author, together with Letizia Battaglia, of the book Mi prendo il mondo ovunque sia (Einaudi, 2020).
In dialogue with Walter Guadagnini, curator of the exhibition, Pisu will retrace the Sicilian photographer’s personal and professional journey through the pages of a book that, for the first time, brings together Battaglia’s life story in her own words, without filters or censorship.
The result is an intense and compelling biography in which the story of a woman determined to achieve her own freedom intertwines with the history of Palermo and with the years marked by mafia violence. Through memories, testimonies and reflections, the event will offer an opportunity to explore Letizia Battaglia’s central role as a photographer and witness of her time, whose courageous and socially engaged work contributed to raising awareness and fostering a more just and conscious society.
