Of skin and light. A photographic journey through the missions of Cute Project

Thursday at CAMERA | Special Tuesday | 28 October 2025, 6 pm

Art, photography, medicine and international cooperation come together in the event Di pelle e di luce (Of Skin and Light) promoted by Cute Project Onlus, a Turin-based organisation active since 2012 in training healthcare personnel in developing countries, and hosted at CAMERA on Tuesday 28 October at 6pm.

An evening of images and testimonials to shine a spotlight on the stories gathered during the non-profit organisation’s surgical missions in Uganda, Benin and Congo, where a group of volunteers – doctors and nurses – work to restore life and dignity to burn victims through reconstructive plastic surgery and training of local staff. Every year, the Cute Project missions host artists who become witnesses and narrators of the work and life in the places of care, intertwining aesthetic vision and human responsibility.

A selection of works created during and after the missions will be on display in the Gymnasium, signed by Monica Carocci, Thorsten Stobbe, Claudio Cravero, Carlo Orsi and Gigi Piana, artists involved in the project.

During the evening, it will also be possible to receive catalogues of the missions and the works on display, in exchange for a voluntary donation to support Cute Project’s upcoming humanitarian missions.

With the participation of
Silvia Berutti, nephrologist and physician
Monica Carocci, photographer and visual artist
Olga Gambari, art critic and project curator
Angelo Pittro, director of Lonely Planet Italy
