Screening of “Le Siècle de Cartier-Bresson” by Pierre Assouline

Thursday at CAMERA | 22 May 2025, 6.30pm

On Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 pm, CAMERA screens the documentary Le Siècle de Cartier-Bresson (2012, 52′), written and directed by Pierre Assouline.

Through his photographs, Henri Cartier-Bresson recounts in the first person the crucial moments of his life and career: from his meeting with Gandhi a few hours before his assassination to his explorations in Africa, from his three years of imprisonment in Germany during World War II to the founding of the Magnum Photos agency, together with Robert Capa and David Seymour. A tale in images spanning the 20th century, seen through Cartier-Bresson’s eyes, but also an intimate look at the life, art, travels and encounters of a great master of photography.

Introduced
Monica Poggi, curator and exhibitions manager at CAMERA
