Cristian Chironi. Living the image

Project Room | 24 October 2025 – 1 February 2026

On October 24, CAMERA’s Project Room will inaugurate the exhibition Cristian Chironi. Abitare l’immagine (Living the Image), dedicated to interpreting the relationship between photography and performance in the multidisciplinary work of the Sardinian artist (Nuoro, 1974).

Curated by Giangavino Pazzola, the exhibition includes a selection of works that trace the artist’s research from his beginnings to the present day, showing how the strategies of self-portraiture, staging, character creation, and setting construction contribute to the constructive and expressive value of the images.
It is already evident from his works at the turn of the 2000s that the author’s poetics do not consider the use of photography solely as a document aimed at immortalizing the action of the body in motion: the innovative methods adopted in projects such as Lina (2004), Offside (2007), DK (2009), and Cutter (2010) reveal the central role of the photographic image in investigating the complexity of personal relationships, one’s own identity, and the relationship with world cultures through the creation of a fantasy imagery that alters the perception of reality.

More recent projects such as My house is a Le Corbusier (2015 – ongoing) complete the narrative of his practice, expanding the hybrid use of the image that the artist achieves through the use of collage, video, and installation.
