Il dodicesimo uomo (The twelfth man)

An open-air photographic installation in Piazza Carignano in the centre of Turin, curated by CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia to mark the occasion of Turin European Capital of Sport 2015.
Moments of local history that tell how supporting ones team is an opportunity for cohesion and sharing. Images of the Turin teams and supporters from the Gazzetta del Popolo archive, such as those of English stars Baker and Law, imaginative Torino players, or the fans who stepped in as shovellers to rid the field of snow in order to allow their favourite team to continue playing, or the face of Concetto Lo Bello, the tough referee who was however so popular as to be elected parliamentarian of the Republic. The event is a forerunner of an exhibition on sport that will be held in September.
