Letizia Battaglia. Works 1970-2020

Following the success of the first stages of the exhibition at the Château de Tours, the Les Rencontres d’Arles festival and the Museo Civico San Domenico in Forlì, CAMERA will present a major exhibition dedicated to Letizia Battaglia from 17 October 2026 to 7 February 2027.
Curated by Walter Guadagnini and co-produced by CAMERA Turin and Jeu de Paume, in collaboration with the Letizia Battaglia Archive, the exhibition traces the life and work of the Sicilian photographer through over 200 images, showcasing the richness of her artistic exploration and her constant social and civic commitment.
The exhibition features her famous photographs from the ‘Mafia years’, whilst also offering a broad overview of the themes that run through her entire body of work. Palermo and Sicily emerge as places of the soul, depicted in all their contradictions: the daily hardships and the dignity of the people, love and joy, the beauty of young faces, the sense of identity embodied in religious festivals, right through to the poignant images taken inside a psychiatric hospital.
The story of his extraordinary personal and professional journey is further enriched by the 22 magazines with which Battaglia collaborated – and which, in some cases, he founded and edited – as well as a documentary film dedicated to his life.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by Dario Cimorelli Editore.
