Riccardo Moncalvo. Photographs 1932-1990

Project Room | 14 February – 6 April 2025

From 14 February to 6 April 2025, the Project Room hosts the exhibition Riccardo Moncalvo. Photographs 1932-1990.

The important Turinese photographer (Turin, 1915 – 2008) began to approach the medium of photography at the age of just 13, following in the footsteps of his father, owner of the Artistic and Industrial Photography atelier, and very soon became a member of Società Fotografica Subalpina.

In the inter-war years, Moncalvo’s photographs began to appear in important magazines and he became one of the first in Italy to print professional colour photographs. The exhibition brings together 70 vintage prints from Archivio Riccardo Moncalvo and private collections, in black and white and colour, covering almost 60 years of history.

The exhibition and related catalogue are curated by Barbara Bergaglio with texts by Walter Guadagnini and Andrea Tinterri.
